Jakarta-Indonesia has completed 80% of overall required preparations for the Annual Meetings of IMF-World Bank, the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Panjaitan said at the Finance Ministry office on Monday, June 4, 2018. The statement was made after he was attending a National Organizer Coordination Meeting of the Annual Meetings of the IMF-World Bank 2018.
According to the minister, the Indonesian government has prepared all facilities to support the event due to be held in Bali this October.
"Based on the preparations, we can say that the progress is already 77% or probably 80%. All aspects included in our checklists have been going on well," said Luhut who was accompanied by the Finance Minister and the Bank Indonesia Governor during the occasion.
Luhut, who is the Chairman of the AM IMF-WBG 2018 Organizer National Committee, said no serious obstacles were hampering the preparations.
"We discuss problems, from security, visa, customs, health, digital economy, those will be the showcases. Then, also things related to tourism and others, many things. We discuss them one by one, no serious impediments," he said.
He added the Meetings Team Secretariat (MTS) were evaluating the preparations, too. Indonesia still has 125 days to finish all of the preparations.
"MTS that serves as examiners from Washington come here in April. We are also present in Washington and in July, August is the final MTS visit here. Now 125 days are left from the Annual Meetings event, " he said.
On the other hand, the Finance Minister Sri Mulyani said Indonesia would play several roles as the host of the Annual Meetings.
"The topics at the IMF-World Bank 2018 will, of course, focus on World Bank side that sees the Finance Ministry of the Republic of Indonesia acting as the Chief of the Development Committee. So the meetings will focus the discussions on global development issues," she said.
Meetings between IMF and ASEAN countries and those of G20 members will also take place during the event with Indonesia as the hosting country.
