Vice President and World Bank President Visit Stunting Handling in West Nusa Tenggara
Lombok – Vice President Jusuf Kalla and World Bank President Jim Yong Kim visited Dakung Village, Lombok Tengah District, West Nusa Tenggara Province in a Village Meeting activity for Stunting Prevention on Thursday (5/7).
Also present alongside the Vice President were Finance Minister Sri Mulyani, Health Minister Nila Moeloek, Minister of General Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono, Disadvantaged Regions and Transmigration Minister Eko Putro Sandjojo.
The program was opened by a presentation from the Working Group Chief of the Poverty Countermeasures Acceleration National Team, Dakung Village, Elan Satriawan along with the Program Leader for Human Development of the World Bank, Camilia Raad Holmemo.
In his speech, the Vice President said stunting handling program was a program for the future of Indonesia. As such, the program that has been running for decades, like integrated health service post or Posyandu, must be kept upgraded. “Right now, the program’s method must be improved, that is why we hope cooperation from all stakeholders,” he said.
Stunting prevention is the main focus of the development of Indonesia. President Joko Widodo sets 100 regions as the priorities of the stunting issue and Dakung Village is one of the visited areas to take a look at how far the program brings impacts to the village.
“In the program implementation, convergence is the keyword. Which means how the introduced program covering nutrient intervention, vitamin giving, clean water sanitation establishment and early childhood education can be accessed by pregnant women and toddlers,” the Vice President said in his speech.
In the occasion, the Vice President and the entourage also went to the Dakung Village’s Health Post, Integrated Health Service Post, Shaufal Khairy Kindergarten and observed the Program Activity of the Keluarga Harapan or Hope Family at the Dakung Village.
